![]() ![]() I run Valhalla plugins and many of the Arturia effects plugins which are not known for their CPU leanness, Ableton effects. And there is a lot going such as: 24 stereo audio inputs - 20 virtual and 4 external soundcard, 4 USB MIDI controllers - Push 1, Push 2, Arturia keylab and Prophet Rev.2, Superior Drummer 3 AU plugin on 5 stereo channels with 2.5 GB of kit samples in RAM loaded from external SSD, Easy Bass 3 AU plugin on 3 stereo channels, Analog Lab 5 AU plugin on 1 stereo channel, a TC Helicon Perform VK on 4 stereo channels including the Prophet audio input, an iPad on two stereo channels through a virtual soundcard, Wotja 21 on one stereo channel. The CPU meter hovers around 20-30% with a lot going on. By 128 it's not peaking but the artefacts are still there, 256 the artefacts are hardly there, 512 they are gone. It's easy to red line the CPU at 32 samples, and less so but still red sometimes at 64. I've played around with trying to max out the CPU by reducing buffer to lowest and working up from there. In terms of performance considering it replaced an i7 Hackintosh with 16 GB of RAM, it's impressive. 10 is on there too but I don't use it as the project files are not backwards compatible 11 to 10. ![]() I too wondered should I wait and save more money to enhance RAM and HDD. Me! - well the M1 mini base spec - 8+8 cores / 8GB ram 256GB SSD which is the same as MBP, but with more cable connectivity, a second monitor, a LAN port and a real power cord.
